By joining, you are contributing to the strength of this moment that wants to see the best for Mariposa. It is a basically your vote for the vision. It's about making a statement about being positive and focusing on what's possible when local folk work together. If you can positively affirm the vision statement below, we hope you'll sign up today.
Our Vision: Through our local efforts and creativity, we see a healthy, vibrant and sustainable Mariposa where everyone's basic needs are met, the environment is protected, dignity and respect are expressed, and diversity and heritage are celebrated.
You still may be hesitate about "joining" for a variety of reasons. Maybe it’s because you don’t what to be associated with a group you know little about. Maybe it’s because you don’t what to be recruited for something else. Maybe it’s because you don’t what to get on another list and get endless unsolicited emails. Maybe you like your anonymity.
Recognizing these concerns, here is short answer to each:
• Being associated with a group you know little about: Mariposa Network for Community Action is primarily not a group, but a social network. It is a platform for sharing local community events, ideas, and projects. It’s more like an interactive bulletin board than an organization or club.
• Being recruited for something else: Mariposa Network for Community Action provides opportunities for involvement, but demands nothing.
• Being on another list and getting endless unsolicited emails: The Network only sends out Network wide emails to announce either Network updates or community emergencies. You will only receive emails from those you gave permission to email you. This may be your “friends” or to interest groups you've joined. Even for these, you can opt out of receiving emails anytime. We will not give out your email addresses except if required by law (see our use policy).
• Being anonymous: The platform we use allows you to block personal information. You control the information you revealed on your profile.
